There is a saying that when you visit Santorini, you either fall in love with it or you don’t like it. To those in the second category, I usually say it’s because you haven’t seen it through my eyes.

Growing up in Greece, I have a special connection to Santorini. My parents owned a jewelry shop and later a hotel in Oia. I spent my holidays here every year.

As a teenager, I gathered with the local kids. We took the 250-step path down to Amoudi Bay, the only beach accessible on foot. We left our belongings on the side and swam to the tiny island of Saint Nicholas.

The days flew by, cliff-jumping into the crystal clear water, sunbathing, listening to music, without a worry in the world. Followed by a stop at our favorite souvlaki place and the local bar.

I will never forget those carefree days, surrounded by friends and Santorini’s surreal beauty.

As I grew older and started working in the family business, I spent 6 months a year in Santorini.
I explored other parts of the island, like Koloumbos and Perivolos Beach. I experienced the transformation from traditional to a top tourist destination, with a more exclusive offer.
